Hello
My name is Allison Shadday
Encaustic painter Allison Shadday has live in Bend, Oregon. Her encaustic painting, involves heated bees wax tempered with damar resin, oil paints and custom pigmented shellac to create vibrant, luminous abstract art.
Influenced by her natural surroundings, Shadday's inspiration comes from places she has lives such as the Hawaiin Islands, the San Juan Islands of Washington, and currently Bend Oregon.
Each piece has 30-50 layers of wax fused with a blowtorch to create a fluid and translucent look.
Working with fire to create her art adds an exciting and physical dimension to her process. This method is more than 2,500 years old and was used by the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. The technique has recently made a resurgence in contemporary art.
